Named for its dark, stony seabed in the harbor, Darkshelf is a small, port village located on the eastern border with Eridae in the Kingdom of Valenar, in the estuarial mouth of the Pelyra River. Known for its massive stone quarry located a half-mile out of town, the town is located at the base of the hill that houses the quarry itself. The surrounds are mostly light woodlands and a modest amount of arable farmland, and the port facilities are large and deep, making the village the perfect place for transloading of stone heading for points far away. Mine workers are the most numerous occupation in Darkshelf, making the quarry the main economic lifeblood of the town. Farming and trade shipping both come in second by a healthy margin.
